Ship among the stormy sea by Ivan Aivazovsky

The illustrious seascape painter and battleship Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky, an Armenian by birth, worked most of his life in Russia. His creative legacy is huge, and the popularity of works only grows.

In his seascapes, the painter was able to recreate the majestic paintings of the struggle of ships with elements, formidable battles, the charm of calm and poetic night marine species. In the picture “The Ship among the stormy sea” it is clearly read the romantic nature of the work.

The past storm caused irreparable damage to the ship, its ropes were messed up and hung limply among the masts. The ship creaks and groans, still keeps afloat, but the brutal waves will gradually break down the resistance and drag it to the bottom. Orphaned ship in a hurry leave the people sitting in the boat, desperately rowing to the shore.

The stormy sky did not fully come to light, the sun’s rays flashed a little, illuminating the cold and foaming surface of the sea surface. The viewer sees through the boundless expanse of blue waves the wreckage of the lost ships. With every brush of the master the canvas becomes more dramatic. Aivazovsky – a true artist, in love with nature and boundless sea.
