St. Catherine takes the wedding ring from the hands of the infant Christ. Saint Sebastian is present at the symbolic engagement.
In the background of the picture are inscribed scenes of the martyrdom of these saints. The picture is full of nobility and high spirituality. As in other works of the artist, the asymmetry enlivens the composition, the strict hierarchy of which is intentionally violated. However, it partially compensates for the color tone and clear illumination of the characters’ faces.
