In the painting titled “Thaw” by the author FA Vassiliev, a winter landscape opens before us. In the center of the picture is the rift, on which stands a man with a child. The man leaned slightly toward the girl to hear what she was saying. The girl points the handle in front of her, perhaps she wants to ask her father something. She points to a flock of crows that has flocked to the road, and is concentrating on something.
We can assume that from the sleigh, which had just passed, crumbs of bread could fall out, and the crows decided to eat them. Snow and snowdrifts lie everywhere, but in some places it began to melt, which indicates the imminent approach of spring. On the wet road, with puddles, you can see the tracks of the recently sledged sledge. Near the road a small pile lies felled tree trunks. To the right of the people there is a small lake, which has almost completely thawed out, but there were still some long icicles hanging above it. From the snow, dry gray branches of bushes glimpse.
In the depths of the picture is a Ukrainian hut, from the pipe of which a thin trickle of smoke. From a distance it seems that it seemed to have sunk in the snow. Behind the hut is a birch grove, and on the right side a landing. Perennial fir trees in the planting lined up in a row, waving their long tops. Their twigs are still slightly powdered with snow, which did not melt.
The sky is completely covered by dark snow clouds, and it seems that the heat will never come. But, melting snow gives hope.
