The Volga lagoon by Fedor Vasilyev

In the picture of the Russian artist Fyodor Vasiliev “Volga lagoon” is depicted a summer gloomy day. The artist loved to travel across the Volga and therefore wanted to show us all the experiences he experienced in this picture.

Volga became for Vasiliev a source of consumption of various impressions. Tranquility and greatness of the coastal lagoon impressed the author and it is the space that fills the canvas. Despite the big dark clouds, the picture looks perfect, the entire color range of colors is expressed very clearly and beautifully, the author uses mostly sandy-yellow and gray-white colors.

Thick dark clouds hung over the coastal lagoon and the hill in the background, it seems that a storm is expected soon. The artist loved nature with all his heart and was very worried about her changes, he tried to show these changes in all his glory.

Vasiliev strove to show us his deep inner peace, beauty and love, storms and experiences on this wonderful canvas. The painter could see and distinguish the nature of trees, bushes, grass, he tries to show all the details, even the hill in the background covered with grass looks immaculately beautiful, its bends and not even edges we see clear and fresh. The author carefully watched the nature, making such a masterpiece of art.

Also on the canvas we can see a slightly noticeable rainbow. The rainbow is one of the most amazing phenomena in nature. Even through thick clouds it appears and looks fabulous, the picture shows that the rainbow appeared before the coming storm and rain. Vasiliev wanted to show us the pre-threat state of nature and the greatness of the coastal lagoon, and we dare say, he succeeded.
