American artist Roy Lichtenstein – one of the brightest representatives of the direction of pop art in art. His works, stylized comics, unmistakably recognizable. Pop art masters tend to portray the well-known, replicated image of popular culture in a different context, so that it acquires a different meaning.
Liechtenstein revised the attitude to the brush stroke. If a work of art was created with the help of a brush stroke, then why cannot he himself become the subject of painting? Why can’t a smear not just be applied, namely, depicted, show it as the fundamental principle of the artist’s work? Thus, a whole series of works, representing brush strokes, was born.
It is necessary to make a reservation, in front of the viewer – not the stroke itself, the author makes his image, presentation. The pure yellow color of the stroke without any shades is formed with the help of raster dots, and the body of the stroke sharply limits the black outline.
