Vasnetsov was an outstanding portraitist, although the genre of the portrait can not be called the main one in his work. In this genre, the artist never worked to order, creating portraits of only people close to him, relatives or those who interested him with his “character”.
In fact, portraits, especially women’s, Vasnetsov fit well into the basic concept of his work – they were all the same search for the ideal of national beauty. As an example of such works, we present the “Portrait of EA Prakhova” and “The Portrait of T. V. Vasnetsova, the Artist’s Daughter,” 1897.
