Magritte stated: “The best title of the picture is poetic. He should not teach anything, but instead amaze and bewitch.”

Following this rule, he called his painting “Golkonda”. Let the viewer himself guess what the semi-legendary Indian city, famous for its gold placers and diamonds, has to do with hoppers hanging in the air.
