Fascinated by the everyday life scenes of artisans and peasants, Lieberman, in his works, sought to emphasize not the exhausting monotony of their hard physical labor, but the dignity, responsibility and seriousness with which they work. No less interested in the artist and children, forced to work from an early age, and therefore matured early. While portraying his young characters, he paid particular attention to the expression of their faces.
The painting “Eve” was executed in the color range typical of that period of the work of Lieberman. Yellow, green and brown tones are shaded by the addition of bright paint used to paint the girl’s dress. Incredibly gloomy girl looks at the viewer frowning incredulously and suspiciously. At the same time, her blue eyes are almost transparent.
