The Volga was written by many Russian artists, but at Kustodiev it turned out to be special. Before us is the Volga-worker, the nurse. Tugs are running along the great river, barges are slowly pulling after them. Steep banks, painted sunset in red, colorful sky, green forest and a white church in the distance.
The artist uses all the colors of the solar spectrum to show the diversity and beauty of the Volga shores. Having absorbed all the colors of the sunset Volga, a rainbow ascended into the sky. The sky in the picture is divided by an invisible axis. The right side is ready to clear up, the left – at the mercy of rain. It is thanks to the rain that the sky reflects the colors of the earth and the Volga, giving the landscape fabulousness and brightness.
