In Italy, the works of the Venetians, especially Titian and Tintoretto, were most influenced by El Greco, as well as the work of the Bassano school. In 1577, El Greco moved to Spain and settled in Toledo, the center of the Spanish aristocracy and intellectual elite, which was close in spirit to the artist. Here the work of El Greco was finally formed, imbued with the teachings of Spanish mystics, which has unique style features.

Stylistic features clearly manifested itself in the most famous painting – The Funeral of Count Orgas. It is written on the plot of a legend, according to which during the funeral of the Earl were St.. Stephen and Augustine, uttered prayers and laid the body of the deceased in the grave. Among those depicted are those who contributed to the recognition of the miracle. On the left is a boy, on the scarf of which date is 1578.
