A man looking at us from a portrait, immediately produces a very nice impression. He seems calm, benevolent and self-confident. Peter Van den Brocke is known for having become one of the founders of the Dutch West India Company in 1614, which was engaged in extensive trade with Persia and India. Subsequently, van den Broek published notes on his life in Africa; The frontispiece of this book was decorated with an engraving, performed on the portrait of Khalsa.
