Autumn Landscape by Isaac Levitan

Autumn Landscape by Isaac Levitan

The miniature sketch of the master surprises the audience with its colorfulness and mood. If it were not for the two bright autumn birch and woods, seen in the distance, the landscape could well be summer. The cold blue color of peasant huts has something in common with the autumn sky, filling the work with a feeling of dampness and coolness.

The greenery is still bright and not without freshness. But the main mood of the etude is given by the golden crowns of the trees. On the one hand, they give the landscape warmth and brightness, on the other hand, they clearly mark the golden autumn with its lush colorful wilting.

The work is filled with comfort and love for a simple village corner. Light, energetic brushstrokes create the illusion of foliage movement, the indicated clouds are torn by the wind. The old fence, track ruts, gray roofs – the whole composition is thought out and carefully verified. The etude of the work is guessed in the ill-defined light of the “un-drawn” small details. The work admires the exact perspective and color variety.
