Zinaida and Charlotte Bonaparte by Jacques Louis David

Zinaida and Charlotte Bonaparte by Jacques Louis David

Painting of the French artist Jacques Louis David “Zinaida and Charlotte Bonaparte.” The size of the double portrait is 130 x 100 cm, canvas, oil. In this portrait of Napoleon’s daughters and Josephine Bogartne Charlotte Bonaparte is depicted in a half-turn, and Zinaida is front.

A similar portrait is kept in the Roman museum of Napoleon. Later portraits of the painter are quite characteristic and true; they were executed by David in exile, in Brussels. An aging artist settles there after the defeat of the Napoleonic armies and the restoration of the Bourbons, who could not forgive him for his devotion to Napoleon, and especially for the fact that during the revolution the Jacobin David was Robespierre’s friend and voted for the execution of Louis XVI.
