In his painting “The Forgotten Mill” AA Kiselev depicts a Russian rural landscape. In the center of the picture we see a wide transparent river. In its dark green waters, the sky and branched trees are surprisingly reflected. Near the shore there is a lot of river pebbles, which in some places can be seen from the water by dark spots. On the flat surface of the water, slightly swaying from the wind, the boat is tied.
This is a fishing boat, and the owner of the boat is standing on the shore, with a fishing rod over his shoulder. His white cap stands out against the general background, glowing in the rays of the summer sun. The face of the fisherman, hidden under the cap, is turned in the opposite direction from the viewer. He looks at the abandoned houses of the mill, which are built on the river, and are supported by piles.
Near the fisherman there is a huge stone boulder, which makes a person insignificantly small compared to himself. On the shore behind the fisher grow shrubs, and lies a severed trunk of birch and dry branches. There is a rather high elevation, on which various field flowers and grasses grow, which carefully cover the tops of the trees above them.
On the other side of the river are agricultural animals grazing: sheep and cows, choosing the most fresh grass, not yet dried by the scorching sun. In the sky is seen a light blue, on which a transparent white veil was covered with fluffy clouds. Just the most wonderful weather in order to make a successful catch.
