“Sunflowers” – the so-called two cycles of works by a famous Dutch artist. The first series of paintings Wang Gong wrote in 1887: cut yellow flowers lie on the invariably blue background. Since both colors are located on the color wheel opposite each other, their contrasting combination looks very organic. A year later there is another series, where already the bouquets of these most sunflowers stand exclusively in vases.
Both that and the other cycle of works Van Gogh wrote in the technique of impasto. It involves drawing a thick layer of paint on the canvas, not only with a brush, but with a knife, a knife and even fingers, which gives the image a relief and realism. Sometimes Van Gogh mixed the paint directly on the canvas.
