Spring by Isaac Brodsky

Spring by Isaac Brodsky

No matter how many painters write new pictures about the onset of spring, they are all so different, and are filled with a special content and vision of this warm season. So “Spring” Brodsky – in its own way is unique and worthy of a separate consideration.

Landscape “Spring” was created by a Soviet artist in 1914. This picture from a private collection demonstrates the period of the author’s enthusiasm for symbolism and modernity. With the help of the picturesque language, Isaak Brodsky tried to show the image of Russian nature as poetically as possible. As a result, there were works with colorful, somewhat exotic subjects, detailed and graphically sophisticated.

“Spring” is written in oil on canvas, but the paint on the canvas is so smooth, airy, which resembles an elegant watercolor. Brodsky’s Spring is the first warming, with falling snow from the earth, trees and houses. Melt water on ice and deep blue puddles border on exposed islands of damp earth. Not for long, and the first green shoots will break through. Little houses quietly huddle under the rays of the early sun.

The canvas was created with astonishing diligence. Artfully written snow looks really realistic. The number of small strokes and the finest lines in the texture of the soil, trees, buildings and clouds, indicate a large amount of work of the artist. He used predominantly blue, brown and green tones.

Even the light of the sun is devoid of bright yellowness – it is pale and soft. Not visible in the field of view, no human figure. Probably, the inhabitants of the village are still asleep, and the early spring has already flown before everyone and melted the snow that had frozen the earth with a gentle sunshine. Looking at the canvas, this morning freshness is felt, which usually reigns during the first hours of the dawn. II Brodsky depicted another hymn to nature, its beauty, naturalness and harmony.
