On the Volga by Abram Arkhipov

On the Volga by Abram Arkhipov

In 1888, Arkhipov, along with his friends in the School, went on a journey along the Volga. They stopped in the villages, drew a lot, wrote etudes. There the idea of a small painting “On the Volga” was born, in which the artist first attempted to achieve an organic combination of the genre scene and the lyrical landscape. Two years later, Arkhipov was admitted to the full membership of the Association of Traveling Exhibitions.
