This painting was painted in 1882 by the famous French artist – impressionist Claude Monet. He loved to describe the seascapes, his paintings are unique and are known to the whole world even now in our days. The picture is well marked sea, rock. Together they create a single whole.
The sea is restless, its frothy waves crash against a rock. Far below are small figures of people in the sea, which, as it were, emphasize the scale of the canvas, the height of a massive high cliff. The restlessness of the sea, these figures of people either wallowing in the water, or swimming towards the rocky shore, cause concern about their fate.
The picture as a whole at the same time suppresses it with its scale, size and remoteness of the sea, and at the same time evokes a feeling of sea space that opens from this rock.
