On the “Portrait of Irina Kustodiyeva with the dog Shumka”, a blonde girl in a white dress, naively and surprised looking at the viewer, stretches a bouquet of bright blue flowers that echo the blue bows in her hair and hold the dog with the other hand. The picture captivates with spontaneity and ease of image.
Although we see a very specific child, thanks to the bright color nuances and simple composition, we begin to perceive this portrait as a kind of generalized image of a joyful, happy childhood.
