The Flemish artist, whose name has not yet been precisely identified, worked at the court of the dukes of Bourbon and expressed in his work the peculiarities of the art of the French Renaissance.
The girl depicted in the portrait stands against the window with the carefully drawn out leaving at the same time, but at the same time giving the impression of amazing wholeness of the landscape.
The image is close to the viewer, the young princess is immersed in prayer, she goes through the rosary, on her face – deep thought and detachment. The bright, shining view outside the window underlines the touchingness of this serious, too-old girl. A similar interpretation of the image of the child was rare in the art of that time.
