Peasant woman by Abram Arkhipov

Peasant woman by Abram Arkhipov

In the 1900s, Arkhipov created a peculiar series of peasant portraits – girls and women of the Nizhny Novgorod and Ryazan provinces. They are all in national bright clothes, with embroidered shawls and beads.

Portraits, written widely, generalized, with a temperamental large stroke, are distinguished by their decorative features, the majority of the colorful scale. The favorites are red, intense pink, sonorous tone.
