The fresco “The Madonna with the Child, Saint Dominic and St. Thomas Aquinas” once adorned the wall of the Dominican monastery in Fiesols, but after its abolition was carved from the wall and sold to two Italian artists. The work belongs to the late work of the master.
Images of the saints are surprisingly harmonious and coordinated. In the center sits Madonna and Child, to her left – Saint Dominic with a lily in his hand, a symbol of purity, to the right – Saint Thomas Aquinas with an open book of Holy Scripture.
In the works of Fra Beato Angelico, the realistic achievements of the Giotto circle masters and the soft, penetrating images of Simone Martini organically merged.
