Flowering peach trees by Vincent Van Gogh

When spring came again, Van Gogh wrote a flowering orchard. This scene is written in the same place as the “Harvest in La Cro”, but the angle is more oblique and less panoramic.

There is also a blue trolley, which is easily visible on the left side of the canvas. Gardens and snow-capped mountains are motifs that occur in Japanese colored engravings, like those that Van Gogh used as a background for the portrait of Pope Tanga.

Van Gogh created for himself the image of Japan, partly based on woodcuts, and partly on the books of Western tourists about the Far East.

In this spring version of La Cro, he transferred his vision of this imaginary country to Provence, as well as added an image of the old Holland to him in the crop picture, which was made in the spirit of Dutch paintings of the XVII century.
