View of Arles among flowering trees by Vincent Van Gogh

After leaving the hospital in Arles, Van Gogh continued painting lessons. This landscape with the image of a blossoming city garden he created on a rainy spring day. He was always fascinated by the sight of the fruit-covered fruit trees, and here he again turns to this motif.

Several city houses are seen through the branches of squat trees, covered with spring flowers. The author chose the point of view, where in the foreground there is a drying tree with dark gnarled branches. Perhaps this reflected the state of mind in which Van Gogh stayed during this period of his life.

Other trees look more cheerful, their branches bluish through the haze of a light spring rain. The author overestimated the horizon, foregrounding a wide green lawn with flowering dandelions.

Van Gogh paints wide planes in solid color, circling objects with a dark outline. The sky and distant trees are written with flowery strokes, this style will become the main one in later works of the artist. The picture is made in subdued tones, it does not have the brightness and color that was usually inherent in Van Gogh. The sky is overcast, and the lilac tree trunks rise against the dark green grass.
