Eden by Lucas Cranach

The Christian religion says that God created as the first man. so he made sure that a man lived freely on the earth, and created in the east a paradise or a garden in Eden, in it there was everything that was required for a pleasant and free life. The man did not have to work. In Eden, according to God’s command, different trees began to grow, pleasant in appearance and with fruits suitable for food.

In the heart of Eden, he planted another tree, which was called the tree of knowledge of good and evil. He did this in order to test the obedience of man, his adherence to God’s commandments. Having planted a man in the Garden of Eden, God said to him: “From every tree in the garden you will eat, but from the tree of knowledge and evil do not eat anything, for on that day, when you taste from it, you will die.” And then God realized that it was not good for a man to be alone, he needed an assistant. he gathered all the field animals, all the birds of the air, to a man, that he should give a name to everyone. And the man gave the names to all the cattle and birds and all the animals, but he himself was still alone. God understood that a man needs a pair. And He brought Adam a strong sleep, took one of his ribs and created a woman from him. He led her to Adam and said that it was bone from his bone, flesh of his flesh and to be called she will be his wife, because taken from her husband. Adam called the wife Eve, which in the Hebrew language meant “life,” and she was to become the ancestor of all people on earth.

Adam and Eve lived in peace and joy, they were naked and not ashamed of their nakedness. They were not afraid of disease, hunger, or death. And the animals around them were affectionate with them, the strong did not touch the weak, and everyone was eating grass and fruits from the trees, and all just enough.
