Dream of a deity. Sketch for the panel by Victor Borisov-Musatov

Summer. A house on a hill, a miracle of evening clouds. A wide alley that descends from the hill. On the right edge of it brightens in a smooth turn the path. Two female figures slide silently in the twilight. The stunted bushes of white roses surround the monument of the sleeping “God of Love”: on a high pedestal, a small cupid sleeps standing, bending over a white urn.

The bright edge of the sky and one pink bush are reflected by the mirror of the reservoir. The panel should have been in the evening, colder, bluish-silvery scale. An ash-blue haze over the green meadows. Color as a quiet melody of a familiar fairytale melody, where “sleep on the beach walked, dozing – on the meadow…”.
