The main researcher of the artist abroad Kristina Kiaer found out that the picture depicts a certain Mrs. Snyder, which Deineka visited during his trip to the United States.
Analyzing very carefully executed sketches and set-ups for this painting, Kristina Kiaer says: “… while painting the portrait of Mrs. Snyder, Deineka himself for a time turned into a modernist artist writing for a nouveaux riche, even if he did not work to order.”
