Blooming Garden by Vincent Van Gogh

The southern nature of Arles enchanted Van Gogh. The bright sun made all the colors of nature brighter, and thanks to the warm climate, the artist could constantly work in an open air. The Arles period was the most fruitful period of his creative life. The works of this time are full of bright colors, optimism and sincere admiration of the beautiful nature of the south.

On this rather large-scale landscape, Van Gogh depicted a garden plot planted with a wide variety of flowers. All the artist’s attention here is directed to the infinite variety of their shades. In the background there are sunlit houses under red roofs surrounded by blue cypresses.

In its idea and manner of execution, the picture resembles Japanese engravings, which caused Van Gogh sincere admiration. The artist deliberately took almost the entire space of the picture to the earth in order to fully reveal the richness of the shades, so impressed by it. It seems that to paint a garden artist uses all the colors that are in his arsenal.

On the warm green background of grass, red, blue, yellow and many other bright spots and spots are dazzling. With the help of this diversity, the artist brightly illustrates his admiration for the warm atmosphere of a summer day filled with sunlight and scents of flowers.
