Oriental etudes are entertaining interpretations of architectural motifs. Depicting the great monuments of antiquity, Christian shrines, the ruins of ancient temples, Polenov chose such angles that represent the building from an unusual and winning point of view.
In the eastern etudes, the problem of the unity of nature and architecture, immersion of the building in the light and air environment, became especially important for the artist.
