
Up to us, about 2700 drawings of Fragonard were finished. Among them there are swift sketches and sketches, and there are also finished, honed compositions that can be considered as independent works or as a basis for engravings. Favorite technique of the artist was chalk – red and black.
A fine example of the finished, detailed drawing is “Seated Girl”, 1787, made with red chalk. And on the example of “The species on the coast near Genoa,” you can see how skillfully Fragonard added mascara to the drawing.
