The worship of the shepherds by Jean Honore Fragonard

The marriage of Fragonard was quite happy. This is confirmed by numerous family scenes written by the artist. Among them there are many children’s portraits – and finished, like “A Boy in a Pierrot Costume,” ca. 1780, and less detailed sketches. A lot of tears of emotion shed the ladies over his family idylls – such, for example, as “Happy Mother”, ca. 1773. And for his rare religious paintings, the artist chose the subjects connected with the childhood years of Christ – “Adoration of the Shepherds”.
