The exact date of the creation of the picture “The Sign of the Shepherds” is not established, it was written by the Dutch artist Joachim Eiteval around the end of the last decade of the 16th century and the beginning of the first decade of the 17th century on the basis of the widely known biblical story.

The composition of the picture “The Sign of the Shepherds” is impressive with the image of a strong stream of blinding light, revealed to the shepherds, which permeates the whole scene from the top down and is the divine news of the birth of the infant Christ, the future Savior.
