Between the trunks of the large maple tree with red leaves pushed to the fore, a view of the Mama locality opens. This huge maple was known to the inhabitants of Edo and was on the territory of the monastery of Goukhodzi. Here, the townspeople came in autumn to admire the autumn leaves of the maple. From its monastic buildings, a view of the Shinto sanctuary of Tekona-no Yashiro or Tekona-Medzin was opened. With it is connected the legend of a village girl from the area of Mama, who possessed extraordinary beauty.
Bridegrooms from different provinces sought her hand, but, having caused discord, she committed suicide. Around the tomb of the Tekons in the XVII century a sanctuary appeared, named after her. Almost in the center of the sheet is the Uugihashi bridge, traditionally it was painted red. Behind the sanctuary and a small grove, stands a ridge of Tsukuba mountains, and next to it – the Nikko mountain range.
The pigment used to color the autumn maple leaves, in the subsequent version, almost did not lose its color. In the early version, the leaves darkened from the decomposition of the pigment. The late leaf is distinguished by the brightness of the color, around the Tsukuba mountains – the red glow of the sunset.
