One of the paintings created by Pissarro, when his skill reached maturity, is called the “Red Roofs”. The artist has developed his own individual style, but he does not cease creative searches, and continues to cooperate with Cezanne, listening to his advice; This is especially noticeable in the care with which the composition is built.
During this period, tangible changes took place in the painter’s technique, and the canvas, exhibited in 1877 at the Third Impressionist Exhibition, showed that if he worked on previous paintings with light strokes, applying paint in thin layers, now their imposition has become more dense, resulting in the picture acquired elements of relief.
Contributed to this and tiny strokes, which are almost indistinguishable on the canvas. The combination of these techniques allowed to fill the product with light and bright color, and if you look at the picture from a far distance, it seems that the smear points, merging into one mass, begin to move.
In contrast, the color solution was originally made: the “cold” in the picture was created due to the pale blue sky, the whiteness of the houses, and trees of brownish tint, and the bright red roofs and yellow fields “warmed” the landscape.
