Interesting on the plan is a small portrait of Torzhkov’s peasant Christina, a wet nurse in the family of the Lvovs. Christine is a young woman with a friendly and slightly embarrassed face. Her affectionate smile, elegant posture and elegant clothes create an image full of festive elation. At the same time, the spectator does not leave a feeling of modesty and spiritual purity of the peasant woman.
A sympathetic, but also somewhat idyllic attitude to the people was typical of many at that time. Enlightened people of the late 18th century looked with interest at the peasants, “not spoiled by luxury,” living in a world of simple feelings, in close fellowship with nature.
