The artist always treated his father with deep respect. Ivan Feshin is depicted sitting on the armrest of a massive chair, on it – a sheepskin coat, which seems not very motivated detail. But as in the ceremonial portraits, the camisoles, tailcoats and regalia denoted the social status of the model, so here the sheepskin coat is necessary for creating the image of the Russian craftsman.
Feshin emphasizes the rugged fortress of a man whose whole life is labor, giving stability to the being of man, filling him with wisdom to accept life with all its burdens.
