The woman on whom Goya married in 1773, was named Josef Bayeu. She was the sister of the famous artist Francisco Bayeu.
There is little about her, there is not even a firm conviction that this is her portrait. She remained a patient wife violent in the artist’s temperament all 39 years of marriage, until his death in 1812.
