Most of her children died in infancy, some were swept away by an epidemic of plague… But this kind woman was not embittered and desperate. The portrait is written with great love of love.
Already in his first works – Portrait of the Father and Portrait of the Mother, the young beginning artist appears as a mature master who will surprise the world with his unsurpassed masterpieces in the future.
The portrait of the mother – the beginning of the creative path and a tribute of love and gratitude to the parents for allowing their son Albrecht Durer to become an artist, identified him for studies with the famous artist Michael Wolgemuth and did not require the young man to continue the family business – to be a goldsmith.
