Novella Boccaccio Nastagio degli Onesti the fourth episode by Sandro Botticelli

In the final scene of the story “Nastaggio degli Onesti” Botticelli used the same architectural frame as in his paintings depicting the Nativity of Christ. This architecture is not so much a building as an ornamental frame for a happening event.

Participants in the feast, sitting at two long tables, celebrate the sad young man and his bride, who decided to accept the offer under the impression of a terrible vision.

Young servants carrying dishes on the table look like angels from religious compositions of Botticelli, and blue skies shining through the colonnade strengthen the atmosphere of happiness that is poured in the scene.
