Noon. Herd in the Steppe by Arkhip Kuindzhi

Conditional romanticism of late Kuindzhi is revealed by a simple comparison of this joyous work with paintings that brought the artist fame in the early 1870s.

In the “Polda” the everyday and almost banal is explicitly poeticized – it is an integral image of the world in which everything is arranged harmoniously and perfectly. Kuindzhi as if teaches: banality does not exist; banality – it’s just our inability to look at the true beauty behind the dirty glass of everyday life.
