Madame Monet in the garden by Pierre Auguste Renoir

Madame Monet in the garden by Pierre Auguste Renoir

Claude Monet told what happened that day in his garden in the city of Argente. Renoir appeared to be his guest, and, delighted with the atmosphere, decided to paint the same story as Monet. Both paintings depict Madame Monet and her son in their garden.

It is very interesting to compare these two paintings, painted by artists in one day. Monet’s work looks more thorough, thoughtful and ambitious than the picture of Renoir. Monet in his picture shows the allusion and lack of spontaneity inherent in this work of Renoir. Later, Renoir continued to practice the works of this genre, while Claude Monet remained new to this technique.
