Canvas Veronese “Carrying the Cross” is unusual for the artist, both its more than modest size, and laconic interpretation of the plot. Most likely, it is an etude to the central part of the composition on the same theme, which is now kept in the Dresden Gallery.
But it is his fragmentary and laconic character that allows us to pay closer attention to the interpretation of the image of Christ dressed in red clothes and the stunning coloring of the whole work, built on the subtlest nuance of red-brown, green and yellow flowers.
