Mark repeatedly painted his beloved and his wife – Bella Rosenfeld, the daughter of a rich Russian jeweler. This portrait is the most famous image of this girl, in which at the feet of the heroine are depicted two small figures. Presumably, this is the author of the work and their daughter Ida.
