Autumn cannibalism by Salvador Dali

Autumn cannibalism by Salvador Dali

Mutual absorption, eating, destruction – this is the plot of this work. In two merged figures, female and male features are guessed. The process is devoid of savagery, everything happens very culturally, with the help of cutlery.

Nearly half peeled pear, candied nuts. Strain creates pieces of meat, ruthlessly nailed a piece of flesh. The action takes place against the backdrop of a rocky landscape, in the center of which is a bloody lake with a lonely house on the shore. The picture was created during the Civil War in the author’s homeland.

The idea of self-destruction was actual for the master. The very internal war, covered up with noble ideas of a just system, a false understanding of the truth, turns into a bloody farce, devoid of meaning. The yellow and brown colors of the painting, designed to create an “autumn” sound, create a tense atmosphere.

The picture is full of symbols, signs. Ants – destruction, an advanced box – Pandora’s box with unpredictable contents. The apple that crowns the composition is a symbol of temptation, of sin itself. The cloud, lonely hanging in the sky, resembles a human profile. The viewer can only guess whether the author intentionally introduces an additional image, or this is an accidental coincidence. Real images in an unreal combination, so the author sees the very essence of the civil war.
