When hearts are trumpeting by Bradley

The triumph of Bradley was the design of the book by Tom Hall “When the hearts are trumpeting”, published in the publishing house “Stone and Kimball” in 1894. Ornamental curved lines and sensuality of this work resembled the work of Aubrey Beardsley, and the female figure on the left made us remember Rosetti’s muses.

Undoubtedly, Bradley was influenced by what he saw at the World Exhibition in Chicago. The exhibition had a huge impact on American art, and it happened at a time when America was beginning to build up its industrial power, which will soon surpass the European one.

Ironically, the exhibition was held to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the arrival of Columbian ships in the New World. For the first time in the history of the World exhibitions, the exposition halls were illuminated by electricity generated by alternators, and the young engineer George Ferris demonstrated the giant ferris wheel he had designed.
