Also known as “The Vision of St. John”, this painting is one of the most famous paintings of the master of later years. It depicts a story from the book “Revelations,” where, after the opening of the fifth seal, the souls of those who are slain for the word of God are called to justice, clothed in white robes.
Many art critics believe that this work has influenced the painting “Avignon girls” by Pablo Picasso, which causes discussions and arguments, adding to the fame of the masterpiece.
