Swallowtail by Salvador Dali

Swallowtail by Salvador Dali

The painting “Swallowtail” is written in oil, and is famous for being the last picture of Salvador Dali, written according to the theory of catastrophes. The canvas was written and was exhibited in the castle Pubol in the middle of 1983, which was then bought out and presented to the love of the artist’s entire life. As you know, Dali performed works in the style of abstract art.

In this painting, the artist used an allegory to convey to the viewer the feelings and emotions that overwhelmed the author. By construction, the composition is very simple: a freely stretched canvas showing curves, integral symbols, typical “dovetail” catastrophes and, like all recent works, the edge of a cello instrument. The author used the integral sign in his work as a mirror image, which resembles the instrument’s efics, with such a subtle trick the artist combined in the painting “music of spheres” and higher mathematics.

The graphics use the form of a cello, but not as a musical instrument, but as a form of feeling, so long and a little sad, but, at the same time, very deeply penetrating into the consciousness. In recent works, the artist very often uses the image of this majestic instrument. The author always identifies the cello with human feelings, even, it can be said, with a man who does not succeed in his life, who hides from himself in the depths of the unknown and can not find a way out.

In his work, the cello is inside the tail of the swallow, which once again emphasizes the influence on the paintings of Dali, the mathematics of René Tom and his famous book The Theory of Catastrophes, Dali spoke of the theory: “This is the most beautiful aesthetic theory in the world, that is, I want to say that me she was interested mainly from an aesthetic point of view, because each of the disasters, and he counted six of them: the parabolic point of rounding, the “swallowtail”, etc., fascinated me purely aesthetically… “. With the help of his brush and his attitude of the world, genius combined unconnected – exact science and abstractionism. Truly, an achievement worthy of veneration for many centuries.

In the painting “Swallow’s Tail” the artist showed the viewer and experienced connoisseurs of art a unique combination of two points. Swallows, personifying beauty, serenity, air, perfection, and a cello representing a load of cares, a piercing groan and endless pain from the inevitable inevitability. Almost in all of his paintings, the author depicts an inalienable attribute of his image, the so-called brand name is the mustache of Dali. This time he put them in the very center of the canvas, telling the viewer that he is in the middle of the events, experiences that tear his soul apart, giving way to beauty, then pain.

Even to the ordinary, inexperienced person, it is difficult to tear off the view from this work of high art. All the latest works of the author are filled with a very deep meaning, which makes the paintings of the late period the property of the most famous museums and art galleries.
