In the 1880s-1890s, E. V. Pavlov was a frequent visitor to the Repin house. Under his medical supervision was the wife of the artist Vera Alekseevna.
Repin’s daughter Nadia had a surgical practice at his clinic. Pupil I. Ye. Repin M. V. Verevkina in 1888 was treated in the clinic with Pavlov. In 1892, Repin executed the portrait of E. V. Pavlov.
