Lautrec constantly drew. Some of his drawings can be considered as completed works, but most of them are sketches for future paintings and lithographs – such as this “quick” study for lithography “Loyer Fuller in Foley Berge-jher”, 1893.
Sometimes Lautrec’s drawing is a caricature that conveys a characteristic gesture or appearance in several strokes. An example of such a drawing is the charming “Self-portrait”, 1896. Lautrec did his drawings not only with a pencil, but also with ink, chalk, and charcoal. Very often in one drawing he used different techniques.
