Advertising was invented by the ancient Romans: signs reached us found during excavations of destroyed cities. However, advertising in the form in which it exists to this day, appeared only in the XIX century.
The technical revolution led to the fact that a lot of goods began to be produced in the world, and technical progress made it possible to quickly and cheaply print any color images in huge quantities. So the advertising industry was born.
The first to use pictures of famous artists for advertising purposes came up with the head of the soap company “Pierce” – and took for this work Milles “Soap bubbles”. The idea was quickly picked up by other manufacturers, including William Lever, who began to intentionally buy the canvases he liked and turn them into advertising for his goods.
